How to Make Your Strawberries Last Longer | Official

Strawberries are delicious and nutritious, but their shelf life is a little short for our liking. In this article, I will show you how to make your strawberries last longer. Strawberries are a very delicate fruit and spoil very quickly if you don’t keep them in the fridge.

If you leave them in the fridge they will last for around 3 days. If you put them in the dishwasher they will last for around 4 days. However, if you store them in the freezer they will last for around 7-10 days.

Strawberries are one of the few fruits that taste better when they’re picked right off the plant. But as we all know, the moment they’re picked, they start to lose their vigour and head for the compost. To preserve them for longer, we’re going to show you how to pick them at the tip of their prime.

If you are on a low-carb diet and want to keep your strawberries longer, this article is for you! One cup of strawberries contains about 7.2 g of net carbs, making it a healthy low-carb treat. But if you are tired of wasting money on berries that are lost far too quickly, beware!

Try soaking them in vinegar!

How to preserve strawberries in vinegar to make them last longer

In a large bowl, make a dilute vinegar solution of one part white vinegar to five parts water. Soak the berries in the solution for a few minutes. The vinegar eliminates the bacteria and mold spores that normally cause the fruit to spoil quickly. In the picture above you can see what the water looks like after rinsing the strawberries. Wow!

Dry the berries well!

Place the strawberries in a bowl on kitchen paper and dry well or let them air dry in a colander. After drying, store the berries in the refrigerator on a paper towel.

Do strawberries taste like vinegar?

No, you don’t! I promise you that!

While I haven’t personally tried this method with other berries, I’ve heard it works with raspberries and blackberries too!
