You’ve heard the term “diet book” before, but diet books are not only written about weight loss, but a wide variety of diet topics. Some diet books focus on the effects of diet on health, others focus on diet on appearance, and some focus on diet on performance. Our book is unique in that it unites three of the most important themes of diet books: weight loss, athletic performance, and health.
Do you want to lose weight but don’t want to struggle through a complicated diet? Do you want to eat foods that are natural and healthy? Do you want to enjoy food without suffering withdrawal symptoms from going on a diet? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you may want to try the Ketogenic diet. One of the most popular diets in the U.S., the Ketogenic diet is easy to follow and simple to implement.
If you are interested in the Keto diet then join our Ketogenic diet book club. We will help you to understand the Ketogenic diet and how to implement it into your life.
Overweight and obesity are the world’s most pressing health issues. Not only are they killing millions across the globe, but they’re also devastating the quality of life for millions more.
In the United States alone, there are over two hundred million overweight or obese people, and the number is growing. This is a problem which has been plaguing the human race since the start of time, and is one which will continue to plague us for generations to come unless we do something about it.
Welcome to the Keto Diet Book Club!
We love a good book, especially if it’s about keto, which is why we started the Book Club! Each month we will choose a different book to read together, related to the keto lifestyle.
We’re taking a short break from our Keto Book Club while we work on some exciting new initiatives here, but feel free to sign up when our book club resumes
For our first book, we decided to review The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung! You can buy a paperback, a Kindle version, or an Audible version to join the party!
So what is this book about?
The Obesity Code is a debunking of the myths we’ve been told for decades about weight gain, obesity, diet, exercise, hormones, etc. Dr Fung shares his views on proper nutrition, intermittent fasting and explains why the theories of the past are just plain wrong.
This book takes an in-depth look at insulin and the important role it plays in weight loss and weight gain.
That’s how we broke it up
The Obesity Code is just over 300 pages long. That’s why we’ve divided it into four easy-to-read sections for weekly book club tasks. After reading each weekly challenge, click on the links below to see our review!
Part 1: Epidemic – Chapter : 1, 2
Part 2 : The Calorie Cheat – Chapter : 3, 4, 5
Part 3: A new model of obesity – Chapter : 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Part 4 : The social phenomenon of obesity – Chapter : 11, 12, 13
Part 5: What’s wrong with our diet? – Chapter : 14, 15, 16, 17, 18
Part 6: The decision lies with the leaders: 19, 20
So why did we choose this book?
Collin read this book and literally could not tear himself away from it.
This is a life-changing and eye-opening book! When I bought this book, I honestly feared it would be out of my reach and maybe boring…. how wrong I was! This book is very well written and easy to understand. I literally could not stop reading and came away with a lot of knowledge about how insulin affects our bodies and how what we have been taught over the years about nutrition is all wrong.
I like that many of the examples Dr. Jason Fung discusses in the book are things I have personally experienced and can relate to. Thanks to this book, I feel motivated and inspired to live my best life!
In fact, this book not only inspired me, but also my father! He visited us recently and we talked about this book – it’s hard not to talk about it (which is why it’s the first in our book club!). He started reading the book and was so engrossed in it that I suddenly noticed he started fidgeting with his marker and had apparently started his own book club. During his visit, he practically read the whole book and underlined all the important points (there are many). He took the scribbled book home and ordered a new one from Amazon! Thanks, Dad.
I would like to leave you with a quote from this book that I really liked. – Collin
Instead, we think it’s our fault. We feel like we’ve failed. Some people silently blame us for not sticking to our diet. Others tacitly assume we have no will and offer us meaningless platitudes. Does this sound familiar? Failure is not our business. A diet of portion control and calorie restriction is almost guaranteed to be a failure. Reducing food intake does not lead to long-term weight loss. – Dr Jason Fung
